the First Five Pages

Who quits reading a book after the first five pages? I just want to know if anyone really walks away from a story after they read the first five pages. I mean unless the book starts on fire or you see Robert Pattinson walk by your window.  Then I could understand walking er, running away from a book after the first five pages.

I decided to do an experiment.  I went back and read the first five pages of books I really enjoyed like Harry Potter, Twilight and the the first Stephanie Plum by Janet Evanovich.  The first five pages really gave me nothing to indicate how good the stories would be.  So if you’re an agent, editor, publisher or the most important person, a reader of good stories please, I’m begging you, read more than the first five pages of the book or next time I may start telling the story in the middle!
